If you care about your data and want to truly own it, you should run your own relay.

If you're not a developer, nostr-relay-tray is perfect for you. Just grab an old computer, install it, and let it run quietly in the corner of your room. It’s simple.

Download nostr-relay-tray today and take control of your data!

1. Download the appropriate installer from https://github.com/CodyTseng/nostr-relay-tray/releases and install it.

2. Open nostr-relay-tray.

3. Go to "Proxy", and toggle the switch.

4. Add the public address to your relay list.

5. To prevent receiving spam events, enable WoT (Web of Trust) under "WoT & PoW".

Thanks 🫂

THIS IS WHAT I NEED!

Gonna implement this to my now-repurposed old laptop over the weekend. Super excited for this project.

Thank you! 🥳

You're welcome! Feel free to reach out if you need any help.

I need that thinkpad first

Any computer will work!

I know, but I like the thinkpads 🫠

Very helpful 🙏

Glad to hear this!

This is EXACTLY what I need! Thank you! 🙏 😊🔥🤙

Enjoy it!

Installed this in less 5 mins and it’s working fine.

Super simple tools ⚒️ 💯

That's awesome to hear!

Ho cody tseng nice to meet you 🤝😉

This is the way! Running your own relay isn’t just about privacy it’s about sovereignty. Every relay strengthens the network, making Nostr more resilient and unstoppable. The more we decentralize, the less control they have over us.

If you care about freedom, now’s the time to act. Set up your relay, own your data, and be part of the infrastructure of the future. No excuses just do it.

Can I sync all my (already posted) notes to this relay once its setup?

You can export your events from coracle.social , and then import it into nostr-relay-tray. You can also use https://github.com/jiftechnify/nosdump to download your events.

thats a good question, and would be a nice feature

Yes, the next version will include the feature to automatically pull events from public relays.

If your local relay automatically pull events from the outbox relays of people you follow, combined with using Jumble browsing. The following feed will load very fast and save bandwidth.

Yes!

Local/Desktop Relay tools with Web/PWA Client is a powerful combo.

wow you’re a legend. I’m now running a nostr relay😊

Welcome! 👏

ลองกับวินแล้วเมื่อคืนใช่ได้เลย

would it make sense to use this as your outbox relay in the gossip model? as in the relay where people should go to find your notes

I think it makes sense. This is true decentralization.

am i correct that relay tray does not support nip-17 DMs? at least in my testing with it.

Yes, that's correct. Since the pubkey in NIP-17 gift wrap events is randomized to hide the sender, enabling WoT will reject these events. You can create an allow rule to accept all 1059 events.

once this has auth, itll make spinning up a relay for community, family, anything incredibly powerful (already is without it). So cool, thanks for your work.

Thanks! Auth will be implemented in the reverse proxy service, it's already in development. LAN access shouldn't need auth, right? What do you think?

LAN no but it just gets real powerful when you can access the relay from anywhere

It will arrive soon

Is there anything like this that could run off a phone?

If you're using an Android device, you could try https://github.com/greenart7c3/Citrine
