Just acquired a #[0] badge for 45k sats on Geyser. Why?

First, I want to support their art. Second, it’s limited to 10 and FOMO works on me sometimes. Sure, you can make the same counter-argument as with NFTs: it’s trivial to make more. And I’m ok with that, because I get to participate in the development of yet another application built on nostr.

What's cool is its ACTUALLY about supporting the artist, rather than that just being something they said to justify trying to buy something to dump on the the next person, who buys it to dump on the next person.

Great point. They aren’t (yet) transferable, so speculating and dumping aren’t options.

I think badges are a little flawed, someone could hustle one and now the issuer is associated with that person for life :)

Not true. You can recall/withdraw them. Keep in mind we’ve only seen one single implementation so far.

Issuer can withdraw? Couldn’t find anything besides:

“Awarded badges are immutable and non-transferrable.”

Wouldn’t withdrawal by the issuer make them mutable? Badge definitions can be updated too, so I don’t know exactly what to make out of them.

Oops. I misread. They are not limited edition. Still, cool af. 😎

Correction: not limited edition. I misread. And let’s face it, it’s too cheap to be. No regrats.
