So I just want to put this thought out there. A slightly different view on how nostr content is perceived.
There's a thread that's getting a lot of engagement saying that nostr content is boring and is just "nostr nostr nostr bitcoin stack sats zap nostr bitcoin"
While I disagree on this point, there is also some truth to it as well. I think there is a lot of non-bitcoin and non-nostr content out there, my reality is not yours. And that's more pronounced here than elsewhere.
You see, there is a major inherent difference... My feed is unique so your perception of nostr is inherently different from mine.
But further... Nostr is focused on human to human interaction. Much of the content posted here creates personal conversations and peer to peer engagement.
Most other social media is built to blast one's opinions or thoughts or whatever out to the public as a whole and is much less focused on conversation after the fact. As such it often has to have wide appeal or else it never propagated.
Nostr is not like that. The engagement people seek here is often to spark a one on one conversation with only a few peers. To the people in that conversation, the content is rich and engaging and intimately interesting as it creates a closer connection between those two people. But to the wider public, they could care less.
Content on other social media is more like posting something up on a bulletin board hoping many people will see it amd be influenced by it. Content on nostr is generally not so much "content" but conversation starters to engage peers.
I see that in these GM type notes. People continue to GM because it forges a bond between certain people, constantly greeting one another as is typically done in an irl community or family. But to any outsiders, who the fuck cares? That's the disconnect.
No one cares if you say GM to your wife in the morning, that's between you two. But I'm sure your wife won't be happy if you wake up and ignore her!
