I agree. From my POV the seeking engagement shitcoin is promoted by client implementations focusing on notifications for every small engagement. If I look at gossip, there is a possibility to disable reactions completely. This is the way to go imo.
Furthermore I've suggested once, to remove the notifications concept from nostr clients completely and see what we really need to get the information we want.
