I see some pessimistic talk about nostr's growth. Nostr is Galt's Gulch and you guys want the normies to flood in?

Listen, this might be social media right now but what we are building here are tools for a free society. Nostr is the communication layer and bitcoin is the money layer.

Nostrocket.org is a post-state post-corporate human activity engine that enables cryptographically secure and decentralized citadel economies. Thank you nostr:npub1mygerccwqpzyh9pvp6pv44rskv40zutkfs38t0hqhkvnwlhagp6s3psn5p

You have nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg using nostr for DLC contracts and oracles with Note-Duel and Superposition! They also have nostr-integrated contact lists for zapping money back and forth!

Cyberspace and Yondar will create the next-gen geospatial and augmented-reality communication tools needed for organizing and coordinating human activity.

These are just some top of mind examples but Nostr is so much more than notes. I couldn't care less if social media wasn't even a part of nostr. This isn't why I'm here. I'm here to build freedom tech and nostr is THE ONLY PROTOCOL to do it on. There is no second best!

I think the social media aspect of nostr will be the glue that holds all the amazing Other Stuff together. I appreciate the work others are doing on the social side and I think it is important. But personally it isn't where my interests or talents lie. And I am not convinced nostr would survive if it stayed only a social media protocol. The Other Stuff will make it overwhelmingly compelling to the average user.

I'd like an otherstuff version of ravelry

I have no programming or tech talents but a girl can dream. one day one of your smarties will get around to it 😉

I gotta jump into this thread. Darn! That seams like a cool idea! I have to backtack a little — not to knitpick but can't you spin up a similar community on nostr? Ravelry looks cool but I'm too tied up at the moment to stitch something like this together. Sorry to hem and haw about it. It looks like a yarn though. Sew cool. I bet when you post a project you're on pins and needles waiting to see what others think!

now that I think about it, I should just write up the the project plan for this and find a developer to work with me on the tech stuff.
