"Instead of 'oh I accept your apology', their response is 'no, I want you to apologize even more and even harder'. That destroys human civilization".

It’s exactly this kind of thing that frustrates me about the “woke” mentality. JD brings an interesting perspective, and I’m glad someone’s finally calling out what I’ve been trying to say. I know because a family member of mine is this way. They even have a "stay woke" sticker on their laptop. Pretty insane and disheartening.

As I say for myself, "take no shit, but do no harm".

Done ranting, GN #nostr.

kinda awkward to watch how caucasians fracture themselves over the adopted and now mainstreamed word “woke” a term which black americans came up with & used with a more layered meaning back in the day. now it is pretty much a dead, politicized word.

My frustration lies more with how some individuals leverage the term to demand excessive apologies, which can hinder genuine dialogue.

i read a book called “the georgetown women’s social club.” the wives in DC politics held dinners & social gatherings that both political parties attended. can be good or bad depending on your view but that culture is over in DC. my point tho is that those spaces for normal conversation were created by women who had the time and resources to design them. and such spaces are necessary among all levels of society. it is the sort of “work” that women have done that was not valued & is lost.
