Any friction imposed on your ability enter your country of citizenship is a serious infringement on human freedom.

The only acceptable leeway should be to verify a) who you are, and b) that you're a citizen.

Hopefully there'll be a mobility amendment in the U.S. one day to codify this principle into a right and provide ample disincentivizing punishment for those who violate it.

If you're sent to secondary inspection to be held for a few hours and shaken up with tough talk, even if you're eventually sent on your way, you've been restrained and violated.

Regardless of what the law says on the point.
