Any friction imposed on your ability enter your country of citizenship is a serious infringement on human freedom.

The only acceptable leeway should be to verify a) who you are, and b) that you're a citizen.

Hopefully there'll be a mobility amendment in the U.S. one day to codify this principle into a right and provide ample disincentivizing punishment for those who violate it.

"No, I'm not going to say what I was doing abroad and who I know in XYZ country..."

If you're sent to secondary inspection to be held for a few hours and shaken up with tough talk, even if you're eventually sent on your way, you've been restrained and violated.

Regardless of what the law says on the point.

Additionally, any restrictions on entry of one of your direct (blood) relatives (like parents or children), on the grounds of them having a different passport/citizenship, is a serious infringement on human freedom.

(And yet… it’s the “norm”)
