Thinking about buying a hardware wallet to keep your precious Bitcoin safe?

Well, I bought 3 different hardware devices, and i'm going to go over some of the differences as well as pros/cons.

The 3 hardware devices i purchased were; Ledger, Trezor,Jade

I bought these 3, as they seem to be the most common, renown, and trusted. But there is tons more out there, I recommend doing your research and finding something that suits your needs and budget!

The 3 areas I will be going over with each device is, Security, User Friendliness,Aesthetic Appeal.

(Ledger Nano S)

For Security I will give this one a 5/5, I may not give the same ranking on some of Ledger's newer devices as there are concerns in the community that the Seed Phrase can be extracted from the secure element. All though it is also mentioned this is a service (A service where multiple 3rd parties hold your phrase and you can reaccess your crypto with KYC) that needs to be opted in to. The Ledger Nano S does not have the capability to do this.

For User Friendliness i give this one a 4/5, Setting it up and recovering was quite easy with this device, the display could be slightly larger, lucky for me i have good glasses!

For Aesthetic appeal I give this one a 4/5, solid design and looks inconspicuous like a standard USB drive.

(Trezor Model One)

For Security i will give this one a 4/5 as i have watched videos and read on forums on how the seed phrase can be extracted from the device, all through the device would have to be in possession of the attacker which means your seed phrase should still be safe from online attackers.

For User Friendliness i will give this one a 2/5, as i found it extremely difficult to recover with my seed phrase. You have to use the display on the hardware device, but then press scrambled buttons on your computer monitor to enter your seed phrase. The whole thing is weird and confusing to explain.

For Aesthetic appeal I give this one a 3/5, can't really embelish on this.

(Blockstream Jade)

For security I give this one a 4/5, as I do not like cameras built in, I put tape over it immediately. It's for another method of recovering your phrase, but I also don't like the idea of drawing a QR code, let alone relying on a QR Code, i much prefer the traditional , write your 24 words down method.

For User Friendliness i give this one a 5/5 , it was so fast to set up and recover that i barely remember the process.

For Aesthetic Appeal i give this one a 4/5, i feel this is because i didn't get one of the see through ones because they were sold out, but had i got one, it would of probably got a 5/5

Thanks for this review! It was very helpful! I’ve been going back and forth between getting Jade or #Trezor… I think I’m starting to move away from Trezor with every review I read… I just saw Jade has the colorful transparent devices. They are so cute!!! They only have a pre-order for October though…. So I’m sitting here wondering if I dare keep all my Bitcoin in a hot wallet until October just to get an orange #Jade. 😳 just a girl’s priorities, I guess………. Do I go smart or do I go pretty? 😂

Go smart, sooner it's off a hot wallet the better. And the better you will sleep

I’m curious… would you explain more about why you don’t like the camera feature? Is it just a privacy thing? Do you think they could get hacked into? But there’s no internet connection, right? #noob questions….

It has Bluetooth capability, I don't want to risk it is still on and can be controlled. Even if you turn your cellphone off , it's not really off.

Ooh… I see. So maybe a #ColdCard would be best? I just keep hearing it’s not as user friendly, but I’m willing to learn.

Cold card sounds superior, but I want something my family can easily use in the case I pass away.

Have you made up your mind on something yet?

I recommend having multiple devices. And splitting your stack up.
