politely decline and/or ask why. 90% of the time it’s not actually needed and you just move on seamlessly.
I went to a new dispensary the other day and let them scan my driver's license and afterwards I wished I had asked them not to. They didn't even ask me if they could, they just went ahead and did it. Completely unnecessary for them to be collecting all the info on my license for me to buy some weed. Other dispensaries just check your birthday and hand it back. I'm disappointed in myself for not speaking up.
