I don’t know that “most people” are assholes.. There are definitely some but I like to think that most people are generally good. The faults are more with modern society and attitudes..
It is important to do what you believe in yourself though and not do it expecting approval or happiness from others.
That’s because you are good. Most of the world is cut-throat. We live in an animal kingdom.

That is the point though, the world may be cut-throat but that is a problem with society in general rather than individuals inherently being assholes.
