This is the thing that people who already own a lot of Bitcoin don't get.

The most valuable asset most people own is their car (no joke, and many people don't even own that). Some people "own" cars that are only worth $5000 or something, and they financed the purchase over multiple years. This works because banks and credit agencies accept cars as collateral on a loan.

You can use cars or houses, as collateral. Maybe stocks, but probably not. That's basically it. Many wage-earners -- even in wealthy countries -- can't just go to a bank and get a $100k loan to buy a Bitcoin. Even most companies can't.

Bitcoin is "only" at $100k, and it's already priced out of the market for almost everyone on the planet and that goes double for women or young people. And it's actually been that way since it was $10k.

And you didn't notice.

But anyone can buy $1 worth of Bitcoin any time. So a “whole” coin is out of reach but Sats are never out of reach. A whole is just an abstraction anyways..

Yes, but everyone mocks people who don't own a whole coin and act like they're just retarded.

We're always viewed like we're retarded for owning ANY bitcoin, at all! Unless... we "bought" bitcoin through the ETFs!🤣

I think Adam Back mentioned that even he is not a wholecoiner. Shows how confident he about 1 sats future purchasing power.

Back is 100% a > 100 whole coiner. He’s been in Bitcoin a long time. You’re thinking of someone else.

Yeah, doesn't he run Liquid?

He runs Blockstream too. He has mad corn.

Didn't he invent hashcash, or something?

Yep

I actually ordered a Jade Plus for my mom a few days ago after hearing some great reviews. It's a beautiful piece of hardware!

Mom’s holding keys!🫡🤝

So is my dad. Bought a Jade for him about a month ago, I think. I was very surprised to see how quickly he picked up on everything.

NICE. Are they using sparrow as software? It really is simple and intuitive to use Bitcoin once you go through a few txs. Easier than a wire transfer by a long shot.

I got my brother, sister and best friend hodling keys for their lil stacks. Such a good feeling.

Nope, Green Wallet, since the UI is much more beginner friendly. Maybe, one day, my sis and I will help them transition to Sparrow after they've become more accustomed to using Green and Bitcoin, in general.

Wait, you have other Bitcoiners in the family, fr? I don't even know anyone with Bitcoin, except from Nostr. Everyone I know absolutely hates Bitcoin.

A bunch. Some cousins, my sis, and now my parents. I, actually, bought bitcoin later than most of them. My sis is the one who orange-pilled me 7 years ago.

Wow, she's lucky!

I still just have my Ledger.

You do plan to change eventually, right?

I don't really have enough Bitcoin to justify buying 2 hard wallets. They cost a lot of money.

I was looking at a Bitbox, but it costs €150.

I don't need hw wallets.

Buy a good usb stick or two, install tailos, put your favourite sw wallet+keepaass there. Clone them. Done. 15(x2) euros.

If you feel like it, buy a dural/aluminium waterproof case.

When it hits a 10x then you can upgrade.

Have you heard anything about Block Inc's hard wallet?

Probably. I know he has been in bitcoin for a long time. I can't remember who said they weren't a wholecoiner, i saw it in some interview🤔.

I’m sure there are Bitcoin influencers who aren’t but Back isn’t an influencer. He’s a legit computer science guy who has taken Bitcoin apart and put it back together, knows it inside and out and I believe genuinely trusts that it’s a true breakthrough.

This whole interview ^ is well worth a listen.

I've seen this. A lot of people are convinced he is Satoshi. I don't think he is, but who knows?🤷

I agree. I don’t think he is, but I do really respect his opinions on Bitcoin.

Yep. Kind of strange seeing a business leader with his level of wealth be so genuinely humble when speaking about money.

The problem is education .. people should buy #sats ..not #bitcoin .. the word #bitcoin should be wiped off from all #bitcoin education material and mass communications and podcasts .. just #sats

#sats are not scarce .. you can buy 1000 sats for one dollar ....

I agree with this as I’ve been in the space way to long, have had my unfair share of bitcoin over the years, seemingly any price movements don’t matter to me at all… 1 btc = 1 btc now & forever to me…

There is no shame in not being a wholecoiner, the main thing is your stack is growing because you are accumulating. No matter how much or how little you have you are still ahead of all the no coiners in the world and there will always been ppl with bigger stacks. It’s really a game or you vs you.

I think the simplest rule to follow is to save 10% of your income in bitcoin. Anyone can live on 90% of their income with little difference to lifestyle. The long term gain from adoption this will more than compensate for going without the 10%.

Yeah, there's no shame in it.

Also, don't let yourself get harassed by people who don't know your personal history. It's very easy to judge your personal and economic situation, from the outside.

True 1 BTC is out of reach for almost everyone. 0.1/0.2 is the most realistic target now, it's only natural that it will also be out of reach in a few years.

This is what stacking Big Tech jobs is for.
