Maybe you can try following more people as iris works by building a form of trust network whereby whomever your followers (2nd degree) follows, likes, comments, tags and expands to the Nth degree. There also relays that would limit up to 3rd degree so you can only see friends of friends. Then other relays might behave differently. You can also experient by fully using free relays that are reliable and see how your viewability it. Hope this helps!
