The hero’s journey is a child’s tale. Something we all believed in when we were young and naive.
Yeah, but they can make other tales lol. Imagine if every film was about children in peril? That would be very odd.

Yeah it seems to be that way. As a non expert who has only watched one anime film, I’m probably not the one to be discussing the topic 😂 But kids solving a problem and facing peril is relatable to anyone who has ever been a kid, I suppose.
Sure, but you could also do the same thing with adult protagonists. Eg. Something like Conan is pretty cool watch as child.
Maybe there is a whole secret genre of anime which is full of shows about adults lol. I know next to nothing.

I think it is probably just a tradition ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. It's for children, it stars children. It doesn't have to, but that's just the way it is. I sort of mostly don't buy the 'anime is for adults' I think that is just marketing and suits a western adult babies funkopop market. (I do know there are exceptions of more interesting animes with complex themes, but it seems like the main bulk of animes are actually for children - even when they are 'dark').
But I must once again state I'm no expert lol.
