I got married in 2018 without a wedding.

We were in New Jersey, my husband’s family was in Egypt, my family was tiny and in Florida, so we just skipped a wedding entirely and got legally married. Cost was near zero.

And the next time we went to Egypt to visit family and friends, his parents did a house party to celebrate, for the cost of food for about 20 people.

I don’t like wearing rings, like physically they give me minor OCD or something, so we skipped rings. But in Egypt his parents were like, “how did you not get her a ring?” so they surprised me with a ring, which I wear on nice occasions.
