During a trek in the forests near the Blue Mountains in Australia I was fortunate enough to see a Cassawary from a very close distance.
I bet you didn't know this.
The cassowary's eggs are green.
In the blue mountains NSW?
This was in 1997 ,when I travelled for a year around Australia. My memory of the event is clear,but the location could have been in a different forest as I travelled a lot. It was probably New South Wales, maybe Queensland. Apologies for any mistake.

Also, this is not my photo. I should have mentioned that and given a reference for the pic I guess. I have no photo of the original encounter as it was sudden. I have lots of photos on top of Uluru though.
They’ve permanently closed Uluru to climbing now. You are lucky you get to explore it when you visited
