Not what you asked but wouldn't "Nostr for kids" be just a well-curated list of npubs to follow in a client without the global feed?

An special relays, but yes, that's almost what #[4] is building.

This is what I’m waiting for to be able to use it in my classroom. I did it once and was worried the whole time something inappropriate would come onto my, or one of my student’s feed.

Would you be interested in testing nostrkid?

Yes. Could I keep myself and students/location anonymous?

I have a dedicated relay. wss://rly.nostrkid.com. You can add it to your relay list to get the nostrkid feed. Nostrkids are whitelisted on the relay and the only ones with write access.

Kids can talk to one another but no adults. Adults can see and zap kids, but kids cannot see their comments. There is currently only one nostrkid

I have little experience so building as I go, but I envision nostrkid to be a place for kids to learn everything and earn Bitcoin.

I currently have:

A dedicated relay

A hacked coracle client

LightningTipBot

This is awesome

Yes. I believe we can do this in an anonymous way. I have some good ideas on how to do this that are beyond my abilities, but I’m learning and open to accepting help. Many of us on #nostr have kids who are largely separated from us on web2. I believe #nostr fixes this.

This sound awesome. What age groups are you targeting?

All ages for beta. My kid is 9. I have several who will be joining soon, some as old as 15. At scale something like this will likely have multiple relays and connectivity, probably different age groups with educational content appropriate for each age group.

But right now, it’s just my kid:)

Okay. This all sounds great. I’ve been trying to figure out a use case for nostr in my classroom, as they are already using lightning wallets for our class economy, we use google classroom for assignments and communications, I run a coding class and we use swift playgrounds. I’m wondering where it would fit? I mean I could use it to teach them about decentralization and censorship resistance etc.

That is awesome! What a great teacher these kids have.

Kids (and everybody) need to learn about digital autonomy, ownership, and what it means to exists safely in a world that is currently largely centralized.

#[5] has learned a lot since joining #nostr. Watched very closely for sections of my vps LNbits build and wants to give droplets a shot now. 🤯

I see nostrkid as a place where kids can set goals and complete challenges to earn sats, host a nostr-market, and make friends all over the world who are doing the same thing.

Challenges would be technology (learning ai and coding), community (neighborhood cleanups), and Bitcoin focused. Rewards for completing challenges would be sats.
