I’ll have to check, I have no idea… has to have it right!?

I would think so

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No way, man. OS 9 was before Apple switched to BSD.

Ah, right. So no bash.

No, but I’ve bashed a few old Macs when they unexpectedly died on me.

Never forget the Apple iLamp.

I wanted one of these so bad! Reminds me of Pixar…

This thread makes me want to go buy all the old wacky apple products. They had such a fun vibe to them. Remember the old flower power imac?

Neat! I don’t remember seeing that

Beautiful

Lovely design

I used to own a PowerBook G3 which you may recall had an Apple logo that glowed when it powered up, but had one incredible design fail: It was upside-down when the screen was open! 🤣

Does anyone remember System 7? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_7

This is kinda what this one looks like… wow! Some stuff is the same but some stuff is so different

Don’t forget that Apple didn’t invent the GUI. That was a Xerox project, and Steve Jobs and co. basically copied and improved on it over the years.

Oh yes, love that sordid story 🤙🏼

I need to watch this, ty ty

Truth be told, it wasn’t exactly theft because Xerox PARC was more than willing to demonstrate their projects for anyone and there was no NDA required. The story of Xerox corporate ignoring the brilliant work being done at Palo Alto because it didn’t fit their business model is a tale as old as time.

I am here for the entire thread. Who else went into shocking levels of credit card debt in university to buy one of these? Just me?

Oh shoot, I remember this! These were the best!

I had the Power Mac G4 in graphite. It was a gift from a collection of relatives. 😁

Beauty!

This becoming a hellthread? 😂😅😂

No way. Retro thread.

😉

I love retro computing

Me too! Some really cool stuff

This one

This is old… yo what is it?

The Macintosh II. We had tons of those in my school.

Wow! 💾 drives!

3.5” disks perfect for:

- Oregon trail

- math blaster

- where in the world is Carmen San Diego

Although I think I played the latter on an IBM.

I need to get Oregon trail!

Oregon trail and Zaney golf are top notch

This brings me back

Classic

Wow! Yes! This was the best game ever!

You can get Oregon Trail but please don’t get Dysentery lol

Lol, for sure… did anyone else name the people in your group after your friends!?

We rocked the iiGs

We had Apple IIes in high school. Remember Print Shop?

Oh woooooow I would spend weekends on print shop

No joke

It would take a whole weekend just to print out a Happy Birthday banner.

True. And it was worth it.

Precisely. Doesn’t get better than that

And the perforated printing paper that was connected like a folded roll of toilet paper… priceless

Dot matrix screeching death!

And the printer ribbon runs out in the middle of the job so the banner just kind of fades out at the end…

A lesson in impermanence.

I’m getting nostalgic and want to bring back iiGS

I was THAT kid in elementary school (1993) who printed out his homework on our brand new goldstar computer (funny enough I never actually owned a Mac until this year).

Print Shop was mind blowing at the time. And now we have OpenAI.

It’s just like perfection, flawless too.

I feel like I just walked into my hs library.

I lived in System 7 for so long…

Haha yes. In most public schools.

There is where I used ClarisWorks if anyone remembers that word processor app.

I’m looking up screen shots, wow yep, seems familiar

Apple was so smart to donate to school, so a generation would want them when they went to college…

In our class rooms we also had those aerodynamic iMacs that looked like TVs.

Internet Explorer 4.5

Cathode-ray FTW

Ya! I keep buying these as long as I could… loved them!

I’ll have to see what version this one has, bet it is that old

used to love the model, recall the design fail, and system 7, good old Mac OS days ;)

I remember that! They did that for years!!!! Is that a floppy drive!?

It's upside down either for the user or for the people behind the laptop. First, Apple preferred the user and now they are signalling to others 🤣

Hit the nail on the head

Sure, but as a user you only see the logo when it’s closed. I’m not sure what Jony Ive was thinking.
