Whether you believe in God or not comes down almost entirely to how you were raised. People do not, as a general rule, change their foundational beliefs in adulthood. Except perhaps in response to trauma.

The same is true for other systems of belief: belief in the State, belief in authority, in public education, in fiat currency, etc. It may take a generation to see the overthrow of these institutions, as it is only now that children are being raised to question them.

Progress one funeral at a time, unless you are in search of solutions to problems.✝️

3 generations to change an attitude/belief. Old Chinese proverb. Because we are spoon fed most of our beliefs in early childhood (before age 5) by our parents.

It seems that a number of high profile atheists are changing their views recently.

Could that be due to the number of enormous existential threats that we facing in the modern world?

Could be.
