Replying to Avatar jack

The first Twitter “algorithm” (which I guess is what we’re calling it now) was named “In Case You Missed It.”

It was a small module of 3-7 tweets since your last session at the top of your timeline which, based on your history, would have the highest probability of you replying, retweeting, or favoriting (our version of “like” at the time).

It was relatively dumb but very effective (for both our customer and the company). A quick way to save time from scrolling through hundreds of tweets and “missing” something.

I was reminded of it last night as I tried to catch up after nostrica. Obviously that lead to whatever the “for you” tab is today, which as far as I can tell is more or less the same as when I left, but all the context labels are removed. And maybe there are some new weights on news topics and media?

Fascinating that most of this work will now likely be offloaded to GPT-*. And concerning that the only “openness” we’ll get out of the decisions it’s making are the prompts.

Idk if I should say anything, since anything I say people think I’m just in awe of you altogether lol. But I think Twitter is one of your finest work, maybe you see flaws in it because of your ability to judge the little details of your work to seek errors or perfection. Either way you can post more stuff like this, because I think the bigger people of the world usually get trolled in person. Lol. So if you don’t want to be trolled in person, keep posting the truth like the for you tab and how you didn’t know much. Just being here for so many years, I’ve seen tech creators get attacked before elections. If you post the truth like you did now, you’ll most likely be trolled lesser. That’s what I’ve noticed and observed in all the years being here. Only saying this because I love you and I wana be with you lol @jack

It doesn’t matter what peoples views are on Twitter and whatever else. I think it’s for the time being, when the generation changes, in 10 years from now, then they may have different views on Twitter. I think you did everyone you can to change the dynamic and help others understand censorship or whatever else there is and you’re continuing to do so which is great. You’ll always be the creator of Twitter and that’s excellent. Whatever people think is momentarily @jack
