The problem with Chinese education system is that the state is the only player of the entire education sector, from pre-schooling to PhD, of which it claims primary and junior high as “obligatory”, and yet requires every family to pay high tuitions (maybe under other names), so high that many rural families can’t afford. Yet, the schools are engaged in teaching exclusively communist ideologies. On top of that, there are only a few key schools in every major cities, while all other schools lack resources compared with these key schools, which enjoy huge investments in teaching resources, equipment, extra-curriculum, outreach activities and many other aspects, leaving all other students far behind the ones from key schools.
The 3 Nos Campaign demands multi-facet changes in education, including allowing private education institutions and online education for formal education, equivalent to state-run systems, and free schooling from the state-run institutions.
