microsd deteriorated and now seemingly unrecoverable.

Fuck this shit, I'm done with raspis and sd cards 😭 I definitely played with the fire for too long

Sorry for your loss man. Hope had backups!

lnd channel states are always outdated which means only a force-close will do

Sorry to hear that. A little cron job bash script that tars up your home directory once a week should really be done for important production stuff. That should also be done on a regular SSD because I've had those fail too.

Sorry for your loss, fren. Proxmox has served me well.

SD cards are the worst. I’ve got one pi ā€œmini serverā€ running totally off SSD that’s been doing well. There’s probably better ways to do it but, tbh, I just like messing with the single boards and wasn’t ready to completely retire it.

Raspberrys are toys IMHO.

Anything serious won't run for long based on a SD card.

Sorry for your loss

Toys yes, but if you have one you aren't using and a USB SSD they are a decent option for certain use cases.

Tbh it's not just the sd cards. I also dislike the whole ARM ecosystem.

It's funny to say this but UEFI is a million times better than any arm vendor specific boot solution.

Also, lack of arm builds for some packages also gives me some headaches sometimes.

X86 might be more energy inneficient but it just works.

Agreed. And trying to build those myself I often end up with 5 other packages that aren't available and have complex build requirements with headers in the wrong place.
