Its always how things like this are done. Slowly but with a goal in mind.

The facial recognition stuff at the airport is also currently optional even on international but I'd expect that to change eventually too.

Yeah, I’ve been opting out… usually get a surprising nod of approval from the tsa employee.

Its a mixed bag. Went through LAX, over the summer, and they kept us waiting for an obvious punitively long time. Give am extra 45min if you opt out of scanners or facial recognition.
