I missed this, thx for the link
That was my initial take (the guest) - he seemed scared… and full of regret.

I didn’t really watch the show, but I went and saw the finale of Stranger Things with my wife yesterday and I’m curious as to why no one has written or spoken about how Bitcoin relates to the show?

Here's what I had to say about nostr:nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmvqyvhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytn6v43x2er9v5hxxmr0w4jqqgx62mz5khn8f8t945pccxty0pu5472wf7j6fm7uyz6fnq0ya3txcvkl3f4a

While I was limited to just one, I also have to give shout-outs to Skot building Bitaxe, nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgtcpzemhxue69uhks6tnwshxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qpq2rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sugh36r building Cashu, and many more.
The policy front may be depressing at times, but the people building solutions on the ground give me hope.

That’s rich…. .ca? Real rich…
That’s called arbitration. As long as everyone opts in, you’re good to go
You’re not wrong but software engineers don’t have the sensibilities required to properly frame this technological timeline.
Freedom is illegal. Freedom always comes with trade offs.
Total Orwellian control over the world doesn’t stop criminals. It only empowers the worst ones.
Framing the conversation as if governments have jurisdiction over your nodes means you’ve already lost the plot.
“If you don’t do this then they will ban it”
The whole entire thing is noncompliant. The whole point of Bitcoin is to route around the state without direct violent confrontation.
Of course it empowers the worst type of people as well. But governments spend very little time and energy handling the worst kind of people because they are made up of them.
They steal, they murder, they abuse children, and they tell you where you can’t smoke.
The trade offs of freedom are worth it.
Anyone starting the conversation with how node operators need to out comply the state is not being helpful. Despite what PODCONF says, compliance is not defiance.
If you have an ounce of dignity, you need to be comfortable with understanding you are an outlaw.

Personal checks with the memo “for Cocaine”… funny guy
There are few things that I think are assymetrically important to understand right now. Bitcoin and Phish are two.
For bitcoiners, Phish is especially important because the birth and evolution of the scene provides insight on longevity and focus within a free market of ideas and individual expression.

Don’t be an idiot.
Compassion and empathy have been hijacked by media and algos.
In Chögyam Trungpa's teachings, "idiot compassion" refers to a misguided form of kindness that stems from the three poisons of Buddhism: grasping, aggression, and delusion.
It's a compassion that avoids difficult truths, reinforces unhealthy patterns, and ultimately doesn't help the person in need. Instead of genuine empathy, it's driven by a desire to feel good, avoid conflict, or manipulate others to feel better about oneself.
Don’t be an idiot.

Hit me like a ton of bricks.
It’s true, bitcoiners are living in the future.
A smaller cohort have integrated the reality of a bitcoin future to the extent that they are aligning their time and energy now with skills and relationships that will cultivate reciprocal value and love moving forward.
Not straddling worlds between broken and sound money but complete focus and commitment towards the latter.
I use the word integrate intentionally. Ultimately, bitcoin is akin to a spiritual awakening or major psychedelic experience.
Message to self (and shared):
Pull yourself up by your proverbial fucking bootstraps, create a vision for your life integrating everything you have learned to this point, write it down, and keep it moving.
