I wonder if my 1812 house has special status....

As life is always layered, the roots are always much deeper.

The world becomes more complicated than ever - where every intention is observed. It made everyone mean. Yet, somehow it also became simpler.

After one too many honest conversations with ourselves, we find peace. And of course, those conversations are continuous. But that’s not even the hardest part. The harder part is to pursue it - the leap of faith.

I can’t help but realize this year’s journey was about the relationship between love and truth. What comes first? What’s more important? What’s left when one is absent? And what does it feel like when truth and love coexist without much friction?

When death is in sight, which matters more - truth or love? What would you let go of last?

What happens when someone doesn’t realize they’re being abusive? How long do you tolerate before standing up and walking away? How much is enough? How much is too much? I’ve been doing this math my whole life. A delicate dance indeed.

My New Year’s resolution is to know when to slow down, to release the excessive energy that can't be directed towards love and healing. To know when it’s too much - that's to know how to truly live with low time preference. A challenge, as always.

Have been watching Pluribus - apparently one of the most watched shows on Apple TV? LOL - see how much people are starving for peace and love? And how much rejection we’re willing to endure when it comes to unconditional love, all because of fear and trauma. It’s heartbreaking, all the grief that comes with it.

I’m grateful for everything that lined up exactly as it did, so a delicate piece of consciousness like me gets to witness it all.

Would you do nothing when you could have done anything? What would you do? Maybe that should be our New Year’s resolution.

Cheers to peace. Love is the cure.

Happy New Year 🥂✨

Texas.

+ Independent grid that is (now) fairly reliable despite solar delusions.

+ Large independent economy with growing #Bitcoin adoption.

+ Favorable Bitcoin law, and overall decent tax situation (no income tax, but high property tax).

+ Good amount of freedom loving Americans still around. Decent gun laws. Plenty of Trump voters.

+ Reasonable Reformed Christian scene, although the evangelical/megachurch dominance is horrid.

+ Austin really is a cool place, especially the hills, lots of great Bitcoin folk. Special beauty and appeal there.

+ Loads of access to good food. Raw milk, handmade bread, beef, seafood, and good Japanese food, too.

+ Fairly easy to build a life where you are left alone and 99% within your own created world.

- Unbelievable Zionism everywhere. Shreaks of Hitler as anyone falls out of line. The most liberal conservatives in the USA. Constitution stampeded where Israel is being served/defended.

- Being overrun by foreigners and there's no signs of the tide being turned; no real resistance and the numbers are getting pretty sketchy. Starting to feel like the West coast.

- So many critical things are outsourced to illegal Mexicans. Your entire house could be f*d up by Mexican contractors so that builders can juice profits.

- Unhealthy environment. Water is trash, chemically treated. Very high cloud seeding. Industrial smog and runoff from all over. Gulf is disgusting. 50-60% of buildings are mold traps, at least from central Texas to east Texas. Impossible to escape herbicides/pesticides in most places. nnEMFs are bonkers in most areas here. Very little regard for resident health.

- Too hot, which keeps the worst liberals out, but too hot and in many places and too humid = lazy indoor people everywhere. It's a vibe killer and gets old after a few years.

- Too many "inner city" style blacks.

- Dangerous and annoying wildlife. Africanized bees. Aggressive ants. Poisonious snakes. On and on. Makes the "outdoors" fairly inaccessible for hiking, camping, climbing, etc...

- I've been to alot of places, and nowhere quite screamed BOOMER like 90% of Texas. Just an ocean of boomers selling out their kids and country while watching Fox News every day.

- Too much sports ball. NPC vibes very high with the college football scene here.

I love this scene except for the duvet analogy and misrepresentation as a “comforter”. I think they could have been more clever. It’s stood out since I first watched the film. I wonder if the book is the same. I knew what a duvet was at the time because I’d used them abroad and found them superior to flat sheet/blankets. I also knew fancy Americans who bought awful velvet duvet covers and put comforters in them.

In my head, a good duvet/cover is the most humble, homesteady things you can own and look after. Freshly outdoor aired duvets bring you closer to heaven 🙏

“Hard times are coming, when we’ll be wanting the voices of writers who can see alternatives to how we live now, can see through our fear-stricken society and its obsessive technologies to other ways of being, and even imagine real grounds for hope. We’ll need writers who can remember freedom—poets, visionaries—realists of a larger reality.”

— Ursula K. Le Guin

The quilts are brilliant. When we were in Italy they just add quilts depending on the cold so we started picking up nice ones from thrift stores after moving north.
