Some clients add a “client” tag. If you post an image its also pretty obvious, because if you use primal it will use the primal image host, etc.

Clients like damus do not add any metadata, to make it hard to guess and to reduce analytics/tracking/profiling. It shouldn’t matter what client you use! And its noones business.

🙌🏽Just deleted and downloaded Damus again, and it's looking SO much different and better than the last time I used it. :)

If you haven’t used it in awhile we have a new unique feature: local search. You just pull down on the timeline to find it. I think we’re one of the only clients that has that. Most clients will send you queries to relays and leak what you’re searching for.

We’re trying to be as client-focused as possible, which protects privacy. Our UX isn’t as good though, we’re still working on that.

I’m not certain but it seems local search only returns a list of about 15-20 results that include the search term before the list returns to the standard time line. Is that right?

Yeah, we are gonna change that so its shows in its own view.

Nice! Would really help with finding older notes I forgot to bookmark

If you search multiple words it will return note results where both of those words occur in the post. Helps a lot for narrowing things down.

Yep I do that often 😁

I thought the reason that a client tag was added was for tracking where issues could be coming from eg poor interoperability with other clients by breaking the NOSTR schema

I believe that was the original intention of the User-Agent header in browsers as well, but it ended up being abused for filtering and tracking clients
