in australia "jif" is a brand of fine sand containing cleaner for scrubbing out charcoal and grease tar on pots and pans, and gunk stuck to porcelain, what looks like the identical product is sold in europe as "cif"

oh yeah reminds me also... i was always used to the expression "skallywag" from australia but apparently this comes from pre-civil war era USA and it was "scallawag" referring to "traitors" in the south who were campaigning against slavery, and the northerners who came south, they were called "carpetbaggers"... a lot like today's Digital Nomad
