very interesting to observe: while Christians halfway around the world are coming under pressure, suffering persecution or worse, the religious community in the world's second largest country seems to be growing steadily. The destruction of traditional local religions such as Buddhism and Confucianism by the communists may have sown the humus to help Christians take deeper root there.

Humans have a God shaped whole inside out brain, we will fill it up with communism, libertarianism, other isms, cults and different religions.
One can see the effects of choosing one over another because we have done it geographically. The most successful one and the one that leads to the most properity is Christianity.
It comes with their own issues but for the most part brings prosperity to the adopter. I hope China does well in the future.

Strange and ironic. Reminds me of how the old communist states are the most non-communist now, because they learned.
But Buddhism can be legit too. Would be better to have real diversity
