What language?

Korean. My husband used to live there and want so master it, and when we got married we started watching Korean TV shows, and I don't read fast enough to keep up with the subtitles, so I decided I might as well start casually learning some 😅 That is the way I learned English. I barely passed the English exam in 5th grade, watched a ton of TV over the summer and it clicked, so since then I've only needed to work on spelling.

I have learned some Korean, but I'm still very much a beginner despite the (to me) impressive amount of days I have studied it!

Cool. I tried Duolingo before I went to Italy for vacation. It didn’t work very well for me. I think my brain only has room for two languages. My daughter is trying to learn Korean. She’s teaching English in South Korea right now.

The mind has room for virtually infinite languages, scientifically speaking. Duolingo is decent for learning new words and phrases, but it isn't great for speaking practice. If you don't mind me saying so, Pimsleur language programs is far better for a focus on listening and speaking.

It's so fun that your daughter is learning Korean! I taught in Korea for about 3.5 years and learned so much! If she wants some tips for learning Korean, my DMs are open. Recently I vibe coded a Duolingo like game but with lyrics from a Korean song, so as to improve my comprehensible input specifically. It's super fun!

I taught English in Taiwan for over ten years until 2007. My two older kids were born there. The youngest was born here in Florida. I was okay in Spanish until I started learning mandarin and then I feel like all the Spanish fell out of my brain. 🤣
