Got a lot colder here in Norway the last couple days, and that's got me looking at squeezing more heat out of my S21 as it's basically solo heating the house. I noticed that hash board 1 runs around 10 degrees hotter than the others which means the miner shuts down to protect itself and two of the boards have to be run at cooler temps and giving me an average of just 64f in the picture below. I've been running stock software.

I want to #asknostr if it's possible to run individual hash boards at lower power so I can run them all hotter, or if you have any other ideas?

So far I am eyeing Braiins OS as it looks like it will let me control individual hash boards

Unable to zap😰

Doh, set it up a while ago but haven't been active in that layer.. bad nostrich! 😅

Tried too. Didn't work

Also checked out Lincoin mining on the recommendation of nostr:nprofile1qqsfvzdsjdzsm4lq47ecjcv6ekhju6sddqtujd2j7wg3upd4ptnnu0gpremhxue69uhkummnw3ez6ur4vgh8wetvd3hhyer9wghxuet59uq3kamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wdaexzmn8v4cxjmrv9ejx2a30qyfhwumn8ghj7ur4wfcxcetsv9njuetn9urtpvzu but as far as I can tell it's more of a layer on top of the miners that doesn't mess with the firmware?

Are the chips in those things insulated or something? If heat is the enemy of a high hash rate then how does this work? Genuine question as I have been considering something similar. If I’m going to waste electricity I might as well make some sats while I am doing it, hehe.

They are connected to a heat sink that is then air cooled. I've been blasting mine on max the entire time and just increasing the air flow to cool it sufficiently, meaning it also runs as hot as I like it, up to 82f or so before it starts complaining. It's been well worth both the investment of time to learn, as well as the costs

Right on, appreciate the info. Starting from the bottom but will work my way to that level soon enough.

Good luck!
