Will BTC (lightning or liquid) ever be able to be this easy to use and accepted everywhere?
You could top off a bitcoin debit card from a node or wherever you have your BTC.
(Not using visa, mc, discover, amex etc BUT using a bitcoin card)
Or will it always be phone wallets? For simple everyday purchases? 
also the Satscard, but that is onchain with the associated transaction fees. great for a bearer asset or gift or for decent sized transactions of like thousands of sats or more.
Yes. The hardware already exists and has been used. It's up to merchants to adopt though.
