maybe they dont need a lot to get by?
maybe the topic is intimidating
maybe it brings up childhood wounds like food scarcity or a bad christmas or a toy taken away
long story short: many reasons
a lot of people have issues around money it is a very personal often weaponized thing
dont believe they deserve abundance?
like a struggle?
feel they make better art when hungry?
the list is pretty endless
on twitter years ago i know a guy who talked about creativity & inspiration & how parameters can help create just enough of a container or a limit to help the process
like: this is a creative writing class:
you have 20 minutes to write about anything make it good
or
you have 20 minutes to write a short story about the first winter you remember
most people find the latter task more inspiring & they are able to more immediately get to work writing something instead of being stuck & overwhelmed by how vast ~anything~ is
in the same way:
having enough money to travel ~anywhere~
vs
i dont travel except for work & to visit family i already have
as in:
money becomes less weaponized & less escalated & less likely to fuck up a recipe if you are someone who can create your own parameters & stick to them cos you believe in them cos you made them for the right reasons
most people dont trust themselves with that
most people are terrified of changing/turning into someone or something they dont recognize until they are beyond utterly lost to themselves
nothing will show you just what you are capable of like suddenly having a blank check
speaking of:

in even the smallest way
im not an outlier here
many many many people would do & say the same
^=> not saying that in a humble way
i can list off the top of my head right now forty people easily
that i know personally irl
who know me
like friends of mine
who wouldve done the same
it wasnt like a 3 year long 18 hour day project where i also had a dog to feed & rent to pay
lived at home
a couple days
it isnt a big ask
Lack of proper financial education, living in the now and not planning for the future.
It's a sad future we're many people have already given up early in life.
