I think the reason people initially joined those platforms is because they realized they could be discovered and go viral (or they want to consume/share the viral content itself). Making that possible is the number one priority (at least when it comes the social aspects of Nostr). The reason these platforms eventually developed staying power is because the reach they provided could lead to monetization, either directly from a user’s content or as a channel to funnel attention to whatever else a user was trying to promote. Zaps are a great way to directly monetize content, but we’re missing the mass virality and cross-posting that gives creators the greatest potential for monetization.

It’s very niche virality, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

just not enough users or a diverse user base yet.

we’ll get there. that’s why i think we need different types of clients not just twitter copy cats.
