Totally agree. The old playbook doesn’t work anymore — AI is rewriting the rules in real time.
If AI is rewriting the rules, they'll be made up lies and wrong. Hell, AI doesn't even know how many fingers a human has.
The main issue is that we don't know what AI will and will not do at this moment. The uncertainty is the issue. It is possible that an AI can redo Amethyst in a couple hours. And if it can redo something as complex as Amethyst, it will break every advantage every software company has overnight.
AI doesn't do anything other than a Google search and regurgitate the top result to you.
AI will never redo Amethyst. It'll just regurgitate someones fork of Amethyst it finds on GitHub.

Not really. I am constantly checking it. It's not that far out. And it's not even a fork. It's all new code.
Product development/complexity won't really be relevant in terms of competition if it can build apps like that; distribution and identity will be all that matters.
AI can not build something like amethyst. It might be able to rewrite it (even though I would say it’s up for debate if for the better or worse). But coming up with it is something else.
Also even if it would it could never have the same understand for a business and its values a senior has.
AI is a powerful companion for generic tasks, but I don’t believe that it can replace real devs
