Yeah basically I take a beat and create a pause where I can decide to act on the impulse or not. I still have the impulse I just don’t act upon it.

Breaking the negative feedback loop on tit for tat.

Beginner advice:

Just silently count to10.

If that doesn't help, count to 100.

Yeah a few focused breath will go a long way. But not sure if a kid can apply this strategy
