The past week has revealed the government’s plans for a full attack on Bitcoin. IRS form 1099 seeking identifying information on virtually all transactions, the seizing of samourai to inhibit privacy, Biden’s proposal for unrealized cap gains tax to disincentivize holding an inflation hedge, and the FBI alert today about avoiding non-KYC. All of these work in conjunction to steer people away from holding and using bitcoin and invade the privacy of anyone who does hold and use it. We are undoubtedly in the “then they fight you” stage.
