would you be upset if that data disappeared? if so, then i'd recommend a NAS that supports at least RAID1.

Yes. I am talking my video footage.

You could build a NAS, but a simple solution is to use Synology or QNAP. I've used both over the years. Both work well.

Not sure why, but it would be a clunky solution.

A permanent storage media such as Blu-ray could last centuries.

A NAS will last a decade if your lucky.
