Absolutely. The better we can de-identify with our thoughts the more clearly we can see where we need improvement
i do think Parenti was hyperbolic and one sided. but sometimes those people have insights worth reviewing.
i also think Marxism is a scourge on the earth.
but i do wonder if cronyism is not a bug, but an inevitable outcome of capitalism simply because humanity lacks the morality to sustain that level of freedom for extended periods
Yes and this is why my country was first established in the spirit of acknowledging the inherent nature of man by creating a form of government that seeks to retard the power of those who seek it and empower those who want to provide value for value, that system is now corrupted and needs renewed.
that timeline might not be entirely correct. it may even be a bit storybook romantic.
it can be argued that “your” country has been mired in corruption from the beginning.
and that the progress toward freedom has been a gradual path owing as much to the prayers and actions of Godly people as it does to a superior form of government.
