That's very unfortunate. A young adult's best defense against bad people of all sorts is good information.
A logical age of consent is between 14 and 16.

In every single country there young adults aged 14 to 16 receive the right to choose what to do with their own sexuality. They really have no problem with it. Talk to some of them.
