This is why I dropped out from my PhD. I realized that I’ve already learned everything there was available for me to learn, working on the thesis would have required 6 months of daily research, so I gave up and focused on my Bitcoin work 🤪

If it’s the BA, then get it. Might come in handy one day, or at least help you get visas for some countries a lot quicker because you graduated from an institution of higher education 🤪

oh wow almost PhD.. Nice

yeah, no im not gonna drop out I'm too close to being over with it, but I'm so stressed it hurts ahhahshshs

Many universities are still stuck in an old paradigm. The abundance of online information and ongoing advancements in AI will make many courses obsolete, especially in humanities, including communication, social studies, literature, arts, philosophy, etc. It is possible to attain a high level of instruction without the need for formal education. Despite having a MA in communication, I understand that today I would be able to reach the same level of knowledge and expertise through self-study and practice, without the need for a structured curriculum

Oh, that ended up very long and wordy! 😂

Deep.

🐇 🕳

hahahahqha

What kind of degree is it, #[2]?

in economics:)

Oh well, if all of your plans fail in life at least you’ll be able to work as an accountant 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have school teaching degrees as my backup 🙃

That’s an honourable trade 🙏

hahahahahah accountant 🤢🤢

I could never

What was your dream job when you enrolled to this degree and what went wrong?

I don't have a dream job

Well, you enrolled with some plans in mind. Otherwise, why bother? 🙃

the only reason I enrolled was to have a piece of mind my own business doesn't work out

if my own*

hahahahaha jk, idk... all I knew is I wanted to work online and choose when I work in the day (no schedule)

and I do that now tbh, my job is pretty ideal

I used to give ski lessons. Loved it.

yeah exactly 💯

the truth is even the knowledge im getting from my uni is not even close to what i can learn on my own but I just want the paper hahahahahahaha

Yep, lots of jobs still require the good old piece of paper—aka “diploma”

Ahhh, the piece of paper for people with low intelligence to claim they are intelligent. They always mistake education with intelligence.

hahahahahah literally 💯💯

yes... even tho I probably won't even use mine I just want a plan B hahahahahah

Gotta take the most from what you can, and pass it on. It’s just knowledge and experience.

yeah...

Very nicely and educational put 🫂

and I 💯 agree with you.

Turn the next generation away from the University path. Going in to a Nostr economy should be the goal!

Strong Decision 🙌

Writing my thesis for at least the next 6 month. Going back and forth every day if it is worth it.

I initially wanted to become a university professor, so I needed the PhD. But there are no open positions, most professors are in their early 50s and won’t retire anytime soon, plus I hated my supervisor because no matter how hard I tried he would try to persuade me to write the thesis that he wanted (which is the same thesis as someone else before me). I lost my passion and gave up.

Maybe one day I’ll give it another go. But if you’re really good at what you do, universities can get you under a guest lecturer contract. So it’s a bit pointless given how there are ways to bypass the hierarchies. Might as well get good at what I do.

owww yeah I totally get how you would lose your passion.. I'm sorry to hear that :((

I hope you are happy with the change of path you took tho 😁

There are always tradeoffs and you can never have it all. But in hindsight, I’m happy because I have the greatest amount of freedom.

nothing compares to having freedom!!

My kind of freedom also implies that I have very few friends and spend most time alone. I like it because I can focus on my projects. But it can get depressing.
