A little planning goes a long ways. It's really very easy to do square foot gardening and can produce quite a lot. My 1/5 acre of gardens produced 5400 pounds last year and is something that is possible even on smaller suburban lots. Plastic or other type of mulch, drip irrigation, and fencing to keep pests at bay are the basics.
