Probably rename it to flagged/blocked post and not a true delete ? 🤷♂️
Sends a delete request to relays. The relays can choose whether to honour it or not.
It's not new, Amethyst has had it for ages.
For those wondering what this is... Amethyst has it built in already. As the page explains, it's a delete request. It's up to the relays to honour it or not. It sends an event that just says "please remove this note from your records."
Can only do it with your own notes ofc.
In Amethyst you see "request deletion."

You can only request to delete your own events from relays. It’s effectively a “stop including in future event queries” request.
And it’s been part of the protocol a long time.

Well it’s a delete request. You can’t delete off mobile phones or browsers that have it stored locally. Most likely archival services will hold some reference long time anyway.
There are replaceable events too.. so some event history could be lost if not stored somewhere.

I tried it out on snort and didn’t work :/ even tho it shows “success” on the relays that I’m in.

Also just notice that snort has the “delete” option already lol
