Re-encoding/compressing is really handy for that sort of stuff, Handbrake's web video presets and Squoosh's avif image preset work wonders to get file sizes down. I managed to get ~800mb of photos down to ~70mb for sharing on my site, and as a bonus you have to start zooming a bit on a 1080p display before you can see a deference side by side.
