The best way to prove the forward security & sustainability of the fee model of Bitcoin is to have 1,000,000+ active lightning channels.

That’s a little over 10x from today. I think we’ll see that in the next 2-3 years

I'd be inclined to think it'll be there in less than 2 years. I think we will see an explosion in LN use in the next 12-24 months

Let’s hope so. A million channels with an average size of 10M sats @ 1000 sats per $ takes lightning liquidity to $1B. Then we’re cooking with gas

Just over 900k channels to go

Any thoughts on Drivechain?

Soft fork hell.

It’s an interesting idea that hasn’t left my mind, but I’ve never come down fully in support of it for a handful of reasons. I leave myself open to it, but I’m not so sure it will matter as much as more time passes.

I've seen #[5] say the same. Is there an article that describes why this would be the case?

Because as time passes it will become clear the security budget concern won’t be a problem as it’s being made out to be by some?

How do I start running a lightening channel with my node? What content is out there for this

It depends on what kind of node you are running. Projects like umbrel make running a lightning node very easy alongside with your Bitcoin node. A good place to start with lightning fundamentals: https://bitcoiner.guide/lightning/

Thank you for this. Any info on how to get liquidity in order to receive transactions?
