Every mint should provide an npub lightning address and if funds come in via that address it should just send ecash to the npub as a nostr DM.

YES.

This is what calle's original cashu ecsh did witb npub@cashu.me .. and it was fun but users and devs thought it was a burden to copy the token to redeem the ecsh into a wallet.

Minibits now does this most efficiently by having any zap/send land as ecash in the wallet and also allowing for sending zaps in nostr client with 2 taps. npub.cash offers ln address and all sends the npub are notified via dm. In Amethyst, ecash receives via dm have a beautiful rendering box that allows user to redeem via ine click.

Find the kind 0 event for the npub. If it has a lud16, forward via Lightning. If not, just DM ecash.

This is pretty much what npub.cash is doing, but without the token in the DM (right now it’s just a notification)

Once I finally get to implement custom user settings, users will be able to choose whether the token should be DM’d or not.

DM is powerful precisely because clients can redeem like Amethyst does. Clients could even auto-redeem and/or sweep all. Consequence: (1) All users have lightning addresses from the get-go (2) No additional or manual user-interaction required.
