The current digital stack speaks a painful truth: #Europe is losing the 21st Century. Building a European alternative for technological #sovereignty is not an option. Homegrown alternatives to empower Europe to reclaim control of its digital future is key to its perennity.

There is no doubt that the EU ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ needs bold initiatives as the digital sector becomes more and more directly intertwined in governance systems.

I'm pleased to see FOSS initiatives mentioned in this report, as well as a strong focus on infrastructure. However, the importance of the means of exchange and communication, at the protocol level, is largely underestimated.

As the digital tools that will be used to build this new stack are obviously those that exist today, we should first put all our efforts into building the protocols that will change habits and encourage a natural migration when the new tools become available.

Encouraging CBDC ๐Ÿ’ถ is an extremely negative โŒ point in this report, and even makes me think that the whole initiative has little chance of succeeding, because Europe will not get out of its current โ€˜organisationalโ€™ and economic logic.

Above all, new governance tools are needed. AI is definitely not to be involved in this. Still convinced that DAOs (with a real `D`!) are the future. But sadly, all the narratives revolve around AI at the moment, as evidenced by the fact that it sits at the top of this infographic.

Make โ‚ฌ0.20 homegrown licence free comms, riskv, sensor chips.

Magick will happen.

Power wouldn't let it happen in Europe. Hopefully Russia/India/China/Africa will do it.

Cheap FPGAs and an compiler would be ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Surveillance Capitalism ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

Surveillance fascism (union of big gov and big corps)

Fascism or oligarchy would be good words, yes. This is indeed a form of fascism. In the sense that it already has the corporations like you've mentioned AND there's the beginnings of a "all for Europe", "all for the Union", culture.
