I feel like something like this would only fragment the community. It would be viewed as a centralized authority and gatekeeper by many, regardless of what role it actually plays. Just being a non-profit does not make it good by default or remove the negative influences of money.

100% agree, but right now the only model is giving money directly to a dev or some grants occasionally by bitcoin funds. No place to pool money in a more structured way. Both extremes are bad, but there’s some middle ground to be had
