I love you all but wait until Iran or some other government gets pissed at nostr it will make replay guy and the current spammer situation look like a paid vacation.

There are a lot of good natured people building on nostr and I love it. They are truly trying to make the world a better place. But seeing multiple devs in my feed borderline begging the spammer to stop is disappointing. There are people who are malicious and will attack you either because they can benefit from it or because they are sick and enjoy it, and that needs to be the default stance against ANY attack on relays/apps. Assume malice and prevent/respond accordingly until proven otherwise.
Folks deal with pressure in different ways. It’s emotionally difficult to feel a loss of control over something that you truly love. I have compassion for that.
On the flip side I literally asked for stress tests and warned of state level attacks. It’s easy to brush it off until you see it. I don’t think this will be a blip on the radar compared to what could come. 💔
💯 Which to me is all the more reason to stop moaning and groaning and fix it 😂 But you’re right people deal with issues in their own way. There’s nothing wrong with venting a little frustration. But it can’t stop there. There is a good amount of public overreacting coming from a few outspoken devs over this and that tends to spread and hurt morale if more rational voices don’t speak up.
Yeah absolutely. I don't know who is running reply guy, but I am certain they are doing this to help us.
This type of attack is inevitable. If nostr is going to survive we'll need a solution before it happens.
Paid relays would make a pretty buck in such an attack if they choose to spam xD
