I actually love drawing with Bic pens. They’re cheaper than pencils and can be used to build up very light texture in drawings.

Here’s an example of a drawing I did of a dog using pencil for the bottom tone, Micron pen for the darker hairs, and good ol’ Bic pens for the lighter ones:

Thing is, I can't argue too much. I'm not here to tell people what not to use, just what I prefer going forward.

All of my early work (High School to probably College) was with various forms of ballpoint pens so I know they work well for that.

I've just discovered that I far prefer the writing experience of fountain pens. I have not explored them for drawing specifically yet. I have sketched out a few little pictures with some of mine, but nothing serious yet.

I guess my only gripe is that they're cheap and made to be thrown out one they're used up which I don't like from a "let's not make unecessary amounts of garbage" perspective.

Then it's "my pen" and reduces the garbage I mentioned before.

unusually use graphite, love it for some reason but I have lots of those micro felt tip pens that I like to use, especially for cross hashing
