Been joining a lot of Ordinals discussions on Twitter Spaces the last week with NFT people to try to connect with that community.

Hearing a lot of nonsense from them re: Bitcoin pre-ordinals.

Crypto people *actually* think there’s only ~600 devs working on Bitcoin projects.

They actually believe that Bitcoin had a “toxic community” until ordinals.

I tried explaining that they have all been sleeping on Bitcoin second & third layer development, sidechain development, global bitcoin adoption as well as bitcoin-adjacent projects like Nostr, Holepunch, Hypercore etc.

These folks now believe they are bringing culture, fun and diversity to Bitcoin.

What is this psychological phenomenon called?

They think bitcoin had a security budget problem, and because of them, bitcoin security is now fixed.

To their credit, the majority of them all seem to revere BTC and the Bitcoin blockchain.

Lots of this behavior, although they don’t “attack” bitcoiners (except Udi who always does) they do mostly keep it positive.

I was trying hard to find the correct label for the neuroses. Something like a hero complex: "I'm new to Bitcoin, here's how we fix it"

What I stumbled into was Lima Syndrome:

"An inversion of Stockholm syndrome, called Lima syndrome, has been proposed, in which abductors develop sympathy for their hostages."

Not exact, but funny in this context.
